How many countries have sent astronauts to live and work onboard the International Space Station?

Construction of the International Space Station (ISS) was a global partnership between five space agencies, which include NASA, Roscosmos, Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, (JAXA) and the European Space Agency (ESA). According to NASA, 240 individuals from 19 nations have lived and worked onboard the ISS. To date, these countries include: United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Spain, Great Britain, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates (see NASA map below, click here to enlarge).
