Out-of-this-world opportunities to make a real difference await you at Space Center Houston! Whether it’s on the museum floor or behind the scenes, we have a position to fit your interests.

As a volunteer, you’ll have a positive impact not only on Space Center Houston, but also on the local and global communities we serve. Volunteer in our education programs inspiring the astronauts and engineers of tomorrow, help our staff welcoming guests from around the globe, or play a vital role in both daytime and evening special events.

Learn about the space program and share your knowledge with our guests as they explore our attractions. Volunteer in amazing areas such as Starship Gallery and Astronaut Gallery where hundreds of unique space and science artifacts are housed and Independence Plaza where the high-fidelity space shuttle replica is mounted on top of the historic shuttle carrier aircraft NASA 905.

Teen volunteers

Teen Explorer Crew

Our Teen Explorer Crew (TEC) volunteers are a vital part of our Explorer Camps, Space Center University, and the overall guest experience. During the summer, TEC volunteers may serve on one of three different teams:

Explorer Camps
Explorer Camp volunteers serve as classroom assistants and runners for our STEM-focused camps for ages 4 - 11. These volunteers help with many aspects of camp, prepare materials, escort students, and help students with space-related STEM activities.

Space Center University
Space Center University volunteers serve as classroom assistants for Space Center U, which is a challenging multi-day program that promotes engineering solutions to space-related situations. Volunteers help participants with activities, prepare materials, and escort groups.

Guest Experience Team
Guest Experience volunteers engage guests on the floor of the museum, sharing information about our exhibits and human space flight, using props and storytelling techniques. They may also assist with other duties that enhance the guest experience. Volunteers in this area must be friendly and comfortable with public speaking and engaging guests of all ages.
