Video: Apollo Mission Control Center now touring

After two years, we are ready to show off the newly restored Apollo Mission Control Center!

Two years in the making, this monumental project has returned this national historic landmark to how it looked in 1969. This room has been restored to look as it originally did during the Apollo program.

To support the restoration, the city of Webster gave the lead gift of $3.5 million toward the $5 million restoration campaign. Space Center Houston’s Kickstarter campaign was part of the center’s fundraising campaign which helped achieve the completion of the restoration.

The pieces in the restored rooms are either original artifacts that were cleaned and restored, such as the control consoles and displays, or the items have been recreated based on original samples. This includes paint colors, coffee mugs, clothing items and even ashtrays.

See it for yourself on our NASA Tram Tour!
