Photo Gallery: International Space Station 20th anniversary – a look back

On Halloween, 20 years ago, Expedition 1 launched to the International Space Station. Two days later, the crew of three had docked with the ISS, kicking off two decades of continuous human presence onboard the orbital laboratory.

As we approach this historic anniversary, we celebrate the continued international collaboration of astronauts onboard the ISS, and the cutting edge research they conduct to aid future space travel and improve life on Earth.

Throughout these 20 years, there have been many historic firsts: the first all-woman spacewalk, the first astronaut to spend a year in space, the first commercial spacecraft to deliver astronauts to the ISS and return them safely home.

Today, we commemorate these moments, and so many more, with a photo gallery to celebrate two decades of life onboard the ISS.

If you are interested in learning more about the 20th anniversary of continuous human presence onboard the ISS, take a look at this Mission Monday blog post.
