New Thought Leader Series explores NASA’s search for life

Water. Energy. Organics.

Is there life on other planets? Those three things could help NASA answer that question.

NASA chief scientist Dr. James Green will discuss NASA’s search for life beyond Earth in space and time at the next installment of our Thought Leader Series at 7 p.m. March 20. Find out how and where NASA searches for signs of life beyond Earth and what they’ve found so far.

Dr. Green will share his NASA mission experiences and discuss how NASA uses rovers and spacecraft to study the geology and atmospheres of other planets and moons in our solar system to search for signs of life.

From the water NASA found on Mars to liquid existing on moons like Enceladus and Titan, NASA’s discoveries only bolster the pyramid of ingredients needed to produce life as we know it. Dr. Green worked on many of the programs that have explored these planets and moons. These missions include the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, Mars rovers Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity, and the New Horizons mission to Pluto and beyond. Currently, he is engaged in a variety of future NASA science missions, such as the next Mars rover and the Europa Clipper.

Here’s a small taste of what Green will discuss in his presentation March 20 in a TED Talk he did in 2015.
